Danny Russell

Danny Russell is the Head of Payments Innovation Product & Technology at the Bank of England, where he leads the product & technology workstream on retail payments innovation as part of the National Payment Vision, the Digital Pound and DLT/tokenisation . He leads the Bank’s work on the Digital Pound Lab, driving experimentation and industry collaboration, and he has also led work on the DLT Innovation Challenge, advancing the Bank’s
exploration of distributed ledger technologies. Danny previously served as Principal Architect for the Digital Pound, overseeing the technology workstream, contributing to the Technology Working Paper (February 2023), and co-leading Project Rosalind with the BIS Innovation Hub.
