View LinkedIn profileDr. Andrzej Gwizdalski is a distinguished thought leader, innovator, ecosystem builder, researcher, and award-winning educator at the forefront of emerging technologies, with a particular emphasis on sustainable and human-centric applications of Quantum, AI and DLT. His interdisciplinary background and holistic approach to applied research uniquely position him to investigate complex systems and processes, such as digital transformation, which is the focus of his research at the University of Western Australia (UWA).
With over two decades of international experience across leading global universities, Dr. Gwizdalski has explored the economic, political, socio-cultural, legal, and ecological causes and impacts of technological transformation in the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. His applied research, experimental innovation and ecosystem building in tokenised economy, AI's impact on productivity and work and quantum finance advance knowledge, facilitate research translation and inform policies on the economic and social impact of emerging technologies.
Dr. Gwizdalski has been committed to building a globally connected Western Australia Quantum ecosystem translating research into industry applications and policy alongside national projects such as Quantum Australia. In 2025 he organised first international Quantum Internet Summit as an evolution of his work on internet communication at the Western Australia Web3 Association he chairs. He is also one of the leading architects behind Q-FINEX - an experimental world's first dedicated quantum testbed for finance launched in partnership between GFTN, UWA Quantum Information, Simulation and Algorithms (QUISA) and ST Engineering at the Black Swan Summit 2026 in Perth.
At GFTN, Dr Gwizdalski has been responsible for developing and leading the original Black Swan Summit Australia, quantum finance with the flagship project Q-FINEX, related thought leadership, content development, discussion moderation and publishing across international forums such as Point Zero Forum, Insights, and Singapore Fintech Festival.

About this session
Quantum computing's impact on financial services is beginning to expand beyond its initial focus on security implications to early experimentation and pilots for potential use-cases, from portfolio optimization to risk management and derivative pricing. Early pilots have demonstrated real value, but the timeline for live deployments remains in the horizon, raising a difficult question: are institutions building use-cases before the technology is mature enough to justify it or is this early investment what makes tomorrow's readiness possible?
The work so far has also relied on open collaboration between banks, regulators, and technology providers, but as quantum applications start to carry real commercial value, that openness gets harder to sustain. This session looks at what these early efforts have actually taught the industry — what worked, what didn't, and what the next phase of experimentation should prioritize as the window for open collaboration closes.
The session will explore questions such as:
1. Is developing use-cases now premature given how immature the technology still is, or is that the only way real readiness gets built?
2. Should current funding prioritize talent pipelines over experimentation, or do the two need to grow together?
3. As quantum applications become commercially valuable, what keeps competitors willing to keep collaborating?
4. What would genuinely long-term, system-wide collaborative action look like beyond individual pilots? -

About this session
Financial system resilience used to mean strong network security and clear regulation. Both are getting stronger — payment networks are tightening technical standards, and regulators are building oversight of critical infrastructure and third-party risk.
But the newest emerging risks don't fit neatly into either category, from quantum computing, which will eventually break the cryptography most financial infrastructure still relies on, and frontier AI models, which threatens to reshape both sides of the security equation — generating fraud that exploits trust and speed, and finding and exploiting technical vulnerabilities faster than traditional defenses were built to handle. Both demand action well before the risk fully materializes. This session brings together infrastructure providers, technology firms, and regulators to discuss what's still missing from how the industry prepares for risks that haven't fully arrived yet.
