Derek Neo is Executive Director and Head of Market Platforms & Services at SGX Group, where he oversees the strategic development and delivery of exchange and post-trade platforms serving global capital markets participants. Throughout his career, he has worked across derivatives, commodities, depository services and platform development, giving him a broad perspective on how market infrastructure evolves in response to industry needs.
In recent years, Derek has focused on the transformation opportunities created by tokenisation and distributed ledger technology. He has led industry discussions and initiatives involving tokenised securities, digital collateral, settlement modernisation and interoperability between traditional and emerging financial market infrastructures. His efforts bring together regulators, exchanges, custodians, clearing houses, asset managers and technology providers to explore practical pathways for institutional adoption.
At SGX, Derek is helping shape the next generation of market infrastructure by examining how new technologies can improve capital efficiency, enable new liquidity models and support a more connected global financial ecosystem.

About this session
The first wave of asset tokenization proved that funds, bonds and other assets can be represented digitally and transacted on-chain. Yet despite a growing number of tokenized products, adoption remains fragmented and concentrated in isolated use cases. The next challenge is not creating more tokenized assets, but making them useful. How can tokenized assets be mobilised as collateral, deployed in funding markets, transferred seamlessly across institutions, and integrated into liquidity and treasury operations?
Building on Guardian's work in tokenized collateral and tokenized funds, this roundtable explores how tokenized assets can evolve from investment products into operational instruments that support financing, margining, collateral management and liquidity optimisation. Participants will discuss the legal, regulatory and infrastructure enablers needed to unlock collateral mobility, the role of tokenized money market funds and sovereign debt instruments, and whether a more connected ecosystem can create the scale necessary for institutional adoption.
