Inside the Build: Financial Institutions and Singapore Technology Builders on AI, Fraud and Quantum-Safe Security - Powered by Enterprise Singapore

    LaunchpadLaunchpad RoomOpen

    About this session

Complementing the policy dialogues across Insights2040 Annual Meetings, this Enterprise Singapore-powered session convenes financial institutions and technology builders together to what emerging technology looks like in practice.

Across three panels, industry leaders will share how AI is being deployed in live operations, how institutions are responding to increasingly sophisticated AI-enabled fraud and security threats, and how the financial sector is preparing for a quantum-safe future.

Through practical case studies and interactive discussions, participants will gain direct insights into the technologies, implementation priorities and partnerships shaping financial institutions’ roadmaps over the next eighteen months.

This session will also showcase capabilities from financial institutions and Singapore’s technology builders, offering international participants a direct pathway to connect with prospective technology and implementation partners.

    Welcome & Opening Remarks

    9:25am - 10:05am

Panel: AI in Everyday Operations: What It Actually Took

Financial institutions are moving AI beyond experimentation and into their everyday workflows, but their approaches vary. Each institution must decide where AI can create meaningful value, what to build or buy, how to adapt its operating model and controls, and how to integrate new capabilities into complex legacy environments. The most useful lessons lie not only in what the technology can do, but also in the operational choices, trade-offs and changes required to deploy it responsibly and at scale.

This panel brings together two financial institutions and two technology builders to showcase how they are putting AI into production. Speakers will first share a high-level view of their approaches before illustrating them through concrete descriptions of live use cases: how workflows were redesigned, where integration and governance challenges arose, what changes were needed to support adoption, and what outcomes are emerging, before looking ahead to what they are building in the next 12 months.

Speakers: Holly Fang, President, Singapore Fintech Association (Moderator), Nacira Alioua, Head of Fintech Engagement, Emirates NBD, Christian Schneider, Cofounder and CEO, File.AI, Sanjay Uppal, Founder and CEO, Finbots

    10:15am - 10:55am

AI on Both Sides: Fraudsters, Defenders and Securing AI-Enabled Services

AI is making scams cheaper, faster and more personalised, requiring financial institutions to strengthen how they prevent, detect and respond to fraud. This includes decisions around authentication and device trust, behavioural and transaction-level detection, information sharing across institutions and borders, liability where customers have authorised payments, as well as securing the AI-enabled services institutions put in front of customers. The most useful lessons lie in what has been deployed, what is working, and what institutions plan to build over the next 12 months, including their build-versus-buy choices.

This panel will explore these issues through avenues such as a fictional AI-enabled fraud simulation. Participants will receive information in stages and be polled on whether they would approve, hold or investigate a payment before speakers explain how they would respond and why. The discussion will draw out technology and integration considerations, including how institutions strengthen protection while keeping banking seamless for customers.

Quantum-Safe in Practice: Where Institutions Start, and Who They Build With

Most institutions accept that the move to quantum-safe security is coming. The harder questions are where to begin and who to build with. This panel focuses on practical and commercial considerations, including implementation pathways and the role of quantum-safe technologies, from post-quantum cryptography to quantum key distribution, in strengthening resilience across the financial sector.

The discussion will bring together two financial institutions and two quantum security builders to examine how these capabilities can be adopted in practice. Audience questions will be gathered live and put to the panel, allowing participants to shape the discussion around the implementation issues most relevant to them.
