Sophia Kazinnik is a Research Scientist at Stanford's Digital Economy Lab (HAI), where she uses generative AI to study how people, institutions, and markets make decisions. Before joining Stanford, she spent seven years as a Financial Economist and Quantitative Analyst at the Federal Reserve, where she reviewed stress testing models and developed natural language tools for bank supervision.
Her research uses LLM-powered agents and simulations to study financial markets, monetary policy, and economic expectations. Recent projects include simulating bank runs and FOMC deliberations, and studying how AI interprets central bank communication. More broadly, her work asks how AI can serve as a laboratory for understanding economic behavior, and as a tool for designing better policy.
