Matthew Campagna
Senior Principal Engineer and Cryptographer
Amazon Web Services
Matthew Campagna is a Senior Principal Engineer and Cryptographer at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he leads the design and analysis of cryptographic solutions. Since joining Amazon in 2013, he has spent the past decade driving AWS's migration to post-quantum cryptography — ensuring cloud infrastructure is prepared for the next generation of computing threats.
Matthew represents Amazon in the ETSI Security Algorithms Group of Experts (SAGE) and chairs the ETSI TC CYBER Quantum Safe Cryptography working group.
Prior to Amazon, Matthew managed the Cryptography Research Group at Certicom/BlackBerry, where he led intellectual property development and standardization efforts for elliptic curve cryptography. Earlier in his career, he served as a cryptologic mathematician at the National Security Agency.
Matthew received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Wesleyan University and studied mathematics at Fordham University.

About this session
Financial system resilience used to mean strong network security and clear regulation. Both are getting stronger — payment networks are tightening technical standards, and regulators are building oversight of critical infrastructure and third-party risk.
But the newest emerging risks don't fit neatly into either category, from quantum computing, which will eventually break the cryptography most financial infrastructure still relies on, and frontier AI models, which threatens to reshape both sides of the security equation — generating fraud that exploits trust and speed, and finding and exploiting technical vulnerabilities faster than traditional defenses were built to handle. Both demand action well before the risk fully materializes. This session brings together infrastructure providers, technology firms, and regulators to discuss what's still missing from how the industry prepares for risks that haven't fully arrived yet.
