Synopsis:
At 20, Dr. Luba moved from Bulgaria to Switzerland to study Economics, inspired by a best friend...who unfortunately didn’t quite end up studying in Switzerland. Dr Luba worked 30 to 40 hours a week at McDonald's during the first three years of university to finance her studies and living expenses. Passionate about natural sciences and technology, her curiosity led to explosive teenage experiments, one of which led to ruining her grandmom’s 100-year-old table. Her company UMushroom was conceived over a glass of wine in Zurich in early 2019. Its founders, Luba and Tonia, left banking to become full-time entrepreneurs by January 2020, working out of each other's homes. Despite early misunderstandings about their business, including being mistakenly listed as a hallucinogenic mushroom producer, they persisted and secured a seed investor in 2021. This is a talk all about how startups build new realms and the mushroom blueprint.
