      Yang Wenhui of Tencent highlights Tencent's advancements in seamless payment solutions, focusing on their journey from local to international markets.

      Key highlights

      Cross-border remittance
      • When conducting cross-border remittances from Hong Kong to some regions and countries, Tencent realised there's a very tangible need to digitalise those traditional businesses.
      • First wallet to make QR code for cross-border transactions available between Hong Kong and Mainland China.
      • Opened the WeChat system to international cards. International travellers can pay like locals.
      • International travellers can also use the mini programmes enabled in the WeChat ecosystem like a local.

      Palm technology
      • On 6 Nov, Tencent launched the Tencent Palm in the global markets. 
      • The use of palm is more precise, faster and convenient than facial recognition. Also announced first overseas palm payment pilot in Singapore with Visa on 6 Nov.
