Tahiru Alhassan is a FinTech and digital assets specialist with over 15 years of experience in banking and financial sector regulation. He is currently with the Virtual Asset Department at the Bank of Ghana, where he supports the development and implementation of regulatory frameworks for virtual assets, blockchain, tokenization, and digital currencies.
He played a key role in the development and passage of Ghana’s Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) Act and has led several strategic initiatives, including the design of the VASP Regulatory Sandbox Framework and the Bank’s tokenization strategy. Tahiru has also been actively involved in stakeholder engagement across the financial sector, working with financial institutions, fintechs, and international partners to advance responsible innovation.
He holds an MSc in Economics and an MBA in Project Management, along with certifications in blockchain and digital assets from institutions including MIT and Chainalysis.
