About This Session

Since the publication of the G20 Roadmap in 2020, stablecoins have grown in scale and adoption across a range of cross-border payment use cases. As the G20 considers the future of its Roadmap for enhancing cross-border payments, this session will examine the role stablecoins could play in helping to meet the G20 targets - and what action should be prioritised to help them deliver better outcomes for end users across a wider range of use cases and corridors.

This closed-door Boardroom will convene senior policymakers, banks, payment and remittance providers, stablecoin issuers and market participants for a practical exchange on the evidence, conditions and policy choices required. The purpose is not to position stablecoins as a substitute for all existing payment systems, but to assess where they can serve as infrastructure that improves cost, speed, access and transparency while maintaining appropriate safeguards.
