Sopnendu Mohanty is the Group CEO of the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN), a global convening, advisory, and investment firm initiated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore as a platform for building an inclusive and innovation-led financial sector, and fostering digital economic growth. He brings more than three decades of experience spanning financial regulation, banking operations, and technology policy across Asia, Europe, and North America.

From 2015 to 2025, he served as the first Chief FinTech Officer of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, where he set the regulatory and development strategy that established Singapore as a leading global centre for financial innovation.

Mr Mohanty previously spent close to two decades at Citigroup in innovation, consumer banking, and regional operations roles across Asia Pacific. He is credited with creating financial-sector public goods including PayNow, Singapore's digital payments infrastructure; the API Exchange (APIX); and Project Ubin, an early central bank exploration of blockchain-based clearing and settlement that informed subsequent CBDC work globally.

He conceived the Singapore FinTech Festival, now the anchor of the world's largest convening platform for policymakers, technology firms and the financial sector. He is a named inventor on several digital finance patents and has been recognised internationally for his contributions to the sector.

He advises governments, central banks and multilateral institutions on innovation policy, digital public infrastructure and ecosystem development, and holds board and advisory appointments across the public and private sectors.
