Major Partnerships, Global Dialogues & New Initiatives
Dear Reader,
It’s been a great Q1 for GFTN as we delivered key programmes in Africa and Japan, each impactful in their own way. At the Inclusive FinTech Forum in Rwanda, together with the National Bank of Rwanda, National Bank of Ghana and Pan-African Payment and Settlement System, we officially launched Project 54, an initiative to address the urgent need for seamless, trusted, and efficient cross-border payment system. We hosted the Talent & Careers Forum – a dedicated platform for professionals and aspiring talent to explore the skills, trends, and pathways shaping fintech’s future, supporting the local community, key regional policy and financial services dialogues. Some of our founders got a private audience with President Paul Kagame, as part of our Presidential Circle Initiative.
In Japan, we worked closely with the Japan Financial Services Agency (JFSA) to deliver a much-needed series of dialogues at the GFTN Forum, Japan, that helped to drive forward entrepreneurship and explored the present and future of financial corridors linking Japan with India and Southeast Asia, driven by innovation, capital, and technology at its core. It was encouraging to hear JFSA Commissioner Hideki Ito speak about creating alevel playing field, encouraging new business, and partnering to co-create innovation.
This week, our focus is on the Black Swan Summit in Perth, as we engage with senior leaders to explore how philosophy, science, and technology can work alongside policy and finance to reshape the way we think about money.
There’s a lot to look forward to in the upcoming months; may we all live in interesting and positive times.
As the world becomes increasingly connected, financial inclusion and sustainability have become critical topics that have far-fetching impact on the African economy and the world. How will technologies like blockchain and AI work alongside policies and regulation to support the need for a more interconnected financial ecosystem? Get the details from discussions at the Inclusive FinTech Forum in this report.
